London’s Feminazi: The case against Megan Walker

Every city has a select few who try and get into the media at all costs. Generally, they do this by actually doing stuff that may be newsworthy. Feminazis have their own way of doing things however, which brings us to Megan Walker, executive director of the London Abused Women’s Centre in London, Ontario. (Frequent readers of this blog will note that London, Ontario is the first stop of Ann Coulter’s cross-Canada tour commencing on Monday.) Instead of actually doing stuff, Megan Walker takes it upon herself to merely send out mundane press releases about how much she disapproves of what everyone else is doing. Sadly, local leftists eat that up.

For some reason, feminists have a bit of a problem with Ann Coulter. They advocate for girls to spread their legs and dress like prostitutes (and murder their baby if they get knocked up,) yet don’t agree with an empowered, successful, opinionated women writing about Christian values.

From London’s AM 980:

Her appearance has angered many in the community including director of the London Abused Women’s Centre, Megan Walker.  She says Coulter is a divisive figure with dangerous opinions.

“I don’t object to anybody who is a controversial figure. I think controversy is really great because it brings forward a lot of ideas and dialogue. What concerns me about Ann Coulter is she uses her platform to spew hatred and often times is very discriminatory towards minority groups.” she said.

Kudos to Walker: she managed to make a statement and backtrack on it in only two sentences! (She also managed to misquote Ann Coulter twice in one sentence.) I fully believe in equal rights for people regardless of gender, race, or anything else outside of one’s control. However, Megan Walker comes from the “castrate all men and shove a vacuum in their hand” variety of activists who keep a rolodex of self-loathing self-victimizing statements on hand to attempt to claim immunity from criticism due to their status. Fortunately, I’m just heartless enough to ignore the laying of the victim card. This is the woman who accused me of supporting violence against women to the London Free Press because I was speaking on a holiday that happened to occur on the same day as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women (also filed under “Useless Non-Holidays.”)

So, Megan just secured her position among the leftists who agree with free speech…so long as you agree with them.

  1. Greg Stewart, Toronto Says:

Wasn’t she that crazy left-winger that can for the New Democratic Communists in London a few years back?

  2. Dan in Wisconsin Says:

She sounds like a real treat…like Gloria Steinham going through withdrawal.

  3. Peter Thomas Says:

Wow, this woman is pathetic. I don’t know why the “liberated” left are so stuck in the stone ages when it comes to liberty.

  4. Pingback: five feet of fury Says:

    Oh, &#$% off, Megan.

  5. Allan Purchase Says:

So Megan got up your noses, eh?

    Good for her.

You wankers need to get a real life, dealing with real issues.

  6. Andrew Lawton Says:

Always nice to meet a fan Allan.

  7. Tracey Says:

I did not realize that London was the hotbed for feminist action..? Being your neighbor to the north east I have also experienced the pains of being a Conservative & feminist woman. Yes, I use both words in the same sentence, and Gloria Steinem (as of 7:30pm) is still alive.

I no longer believe in the ‘sista-hood’. A sham sold to women to make them be more consumer cows and shop endlessly for shoes. (Yes, I said that!). Being a feminist woman means to stand up be vocal, listen, form a opinion and move FORWARD. Not backward to being fodder for marketing gurus trying to get you to see Sex&TheCity7.

I disagree with Coulter on some issues. Maybe even wince a bit on the grandiose statements she is known for. BUT…I love her for them. Gives women a tough image to look to. See a woman stand up to the tidal wave of Cosmopolitan-HeidiMontag garbage we are fed on a daily basis.

    Yes, I am a feminist.

Now Andrew, just where can I hear this great interview with Coulter.

    Tracey

  8. Andrew Lawton Says:

Tracey, if your definition of feminism was the common one, the world would be a much better place. I’m all for equal rights, and I would love to see more women in politics, conservatism, etc., but I don’t think affirmative action is the way to do it. It should be up for women to empower themselves to succeed in a world that has been previously dominated by men, not get revenge.

In any case, the interview is here: http://www.strictlyright.com/2010/03/16/shes-back/

    :)

  9. Tracey Says:

Thank you Andrew. I may never run for office. (I am known for my FB status updates!) but I do help Conservative movement as much as possible. Yes, equal work, equal rewards, all I ever asked.

    Thanks for link!

  10. Kawen Says:

Ann Coulter is a woman that more chicks should aspire to be. I say this as a female conservative who was once forced to suffer through a Women’s Studies class in order to fulfill requirements for my BA.
Coulter is a strong minded conservative woman who wants other women to be empowered without compromizing traditional masculinity and for that, I will not only applaud her, but ask her to sign some books.

  11. Andrew Lawton Says:

    Well said Kawen and Tracey.

I have always maintained that the women that the left hates — Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, et al — are the ones who are living up to what it is that the left claims to want for women. They’re empowered, they’re successful, they’re intellectual and they got where they were not from selling their bodies. However, what sets them apart is that they refuse to play the victim card and they maintain their independence…as long as you’re independent, the left won’t touch you.

  12. Natasha Says:

Walker should go back to whining about all the poor “sex trade workers” (*snort* — I’ll consider whores as legitimate business people when they pay income tax like everyone else). She is your typical leftist wanker: She believes in free speech as long as she agrees with the opinions expressed.

  13. Rosemarie Culver Says:

Thanks to the London Free Press for its article on Ann Coulter’s appearance in London on Monday. Wouldn’t have known otherwise. Thanks for quoting Megan Wlaker’s comments too. This is another demonstration of Left Wing intolerance of free speech. Megan Walker, true to her view of society, would deny free speech to anyone who has a viewpoint other than her own. Thanks to Megan Wlaker Londoners will once again be given an example of Left wing intolerance for free speech. Funny how lefties always oppose successful, strong, free and traditional women like Ann Coulter. Thanks to Ann Coulter for coming to London. I am looking forward to hearing her speech on Monday. Thank you Ann and God bless you.

  14. Maikeru Says:

Reading Megan’s abusive ‘concern’ about Anne Coulter brought to mind a great Mark Steyn observation:

    - I have no respect for someone so snarlingly inarticulate that he reflexively uses “spew” in its leftist definition of “unremarkable observation by someone of an opposing political disposition” under the sad misapprehension that it adds vigor and color to his prose rather than being the bazillionth deployment of one of the lamest tropes in the understocked progressive armory. -

  15. Andrew Lawton Says:

Thanks for the comments Rosemary, Maikeru and Natasha!

Natasha, as a Londoner you have no excuse for not coming on Monday :P

  16. Sylvia Underwood Says:

Ann, as well as yourselves, are a perfect example of why racism, sexism and hate exist in our society.
You may support “freedom of speech” and opinions, which is great. However I cannot wait for the day when one of your children calls the Muslim kid on the playground a ” monkey” or “clothhead” and thinks its okay. I cannot wait until one of your daughters tells you she wont vote because she is aware that she is inferior and will vote “democrat” if she does. I cannot wait until your son or daughter cries every night because he/she is aware that their parent is a racist and won’t allow her/him to be happy with someone of another race.
Extreme as it may sound, this is what Ann promotes. She openly uses racist, sexist and violent language and threats. You all must be American since you were untouched by the statement that Canada is LUCKY to be on the same continent as the United States. For what I assume is an educated group, you are all quite stupid.

  17. Andrew Lawton Says:

Sylvia, thank you for commenting. As you well know, I appreciate the right to your freedom of speech and respect that you have that same view for myself. However, I (obviously) take issue with the fact that you believe I am promoting racist, sexism, and generally hatred.

I was born and raised in Canada, and have never lived outside of it. Just because I don’t take offense to an (accurate) statement by Ann about relations between Canada and the United States doesn’t make me less Canadian. I find it odd that people such us yourselves claim to be Patriotic while your policies and ideas support the opposite.

How dare you call me a racist. I wonder why truly believing in a society colour-blind to race is “racist.” I don’t want to bend over backwards to accommodate people of different races because I don’t feel that those individuals deserve to be subjected to ‘pity,’ as if they are unable to succeed in this world. Your suggestion that my children (when I have them) will “[cry] every night because he/she is aware that their parent is a racist…” is not only preposterous because it’s not true, but I challenge you to present a single piece of evidence that I’m racist.

I expect I’ll hear crickets before I hear back from you.

  18. Sylvia Underwood Says:

You are supporting and defending a women, who told a 17-year old Muslim girl at UWO that she could “take a camel” back home. You might argue the student was pushing it, but she simply asked how she would travel if she didn’t have a flying carpet ( As Ann suggested all Muslims have)
Ann Coulter targets other races, using offensive language that show her feelings of superiority over those races. She is also against gay rights! Her homophobia and plain ignorance about the situation is outrageous. Unfortunately by supporting her and promoting her, you are only passing on the racist, sexist and homophobic opinions. You may not be as “hardcore” as her, but children learn fast and by even subjecting them to this type of information, you are allowing your children to demonstrate these kind of behaviours, all while telling them it is okay to target Muslims, women and gay people.

  19. Alan Says:

    thanks !! very helpful post!
