Obama Obliterated By……. Chris Matthews
Could this be an LBJ/Cronkite moment?
Probably not – no one watches MSNBC, and even fewer care about what Chris Matthews has to say. However, it is something to see Mr. “tingle up my leg” take on Obama in such harsh words. To review, Matthews compared O’s handling of the Gulf oil spill to Jimmy Carter’s handling of the Iran hostage crisis. He said it was as big a disaster as what had to be done at Dunkirk. Chrisy pointed out that Chairman O is “not taking ownership,” “not acting like it’s big time,” “not acting like a commander in chief,” “not a chief executive,” and that the Obama team is no more than an”idiotic cerebral meritocracy.” I don’t think I could have said it any better myself.

Is this a sign of the rats fleeing a sinking ship?

I hardly see this as comparable to Cronkite. Matthews had plenty of positives to say about George W. Bush.

To clarify, are you saying that Chris Matthews, the Jimmy Carter speechwriter, is not a man of the left?

What made the Cronkite/Tet Offensive speech so significant was that Cronkite was noted for his impartiality. His break from this impartial stance made his words even more effective. Matthews clearly is not impartial, and I don’t think his “defection”, as it were, is quite as significant as one might make it out to be. He has supported the Republican Party in the past, and has made no bones about the fact that he is “…more conservative than people think [he] is.”

And to add, that’s not that I think Obama has done an acceptable job handing this oil spill, which I don’t by any means. I just don’t think Chris Matthews calling him on it is quite as significant as has been asserted.

UNBELIEVABLE and refreshing.

It seems that more and more of us are seeing the President, as he really is. Many have said he was not ready for such a responsibility, and this seems to prove they are right.

I didn’t know that Matthews guest-hoted for el Rushbo once. Did he used to be conservative?
